Bullfighting

A bullfight is a form of popular entertainment in which six bulls are stabbed with several sharp instruments. The average duration of a bullfight with one bull is 20 minutes. When the bull has become too weak to “fight”, it is killed. Different types of bullfighting do exist.

Bullfights take place in 8 countries: Spain, France, Portugal, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela. In the United States, the bulls are not killed.

Each year, it is estimated that more than 180,000 bulls, cows and calves are mistreated and killed during bullfights and related events worldwide. Many horses also fall victim. Horses are regularly injured, sometimes even so serious that they cannot recover.
