No more travels to the running of the bulls with STA TravelThe travel agency STA Travel has recently organized special trips to the running of the bulls in Pamplona during the feasts of San Fermin (every year between the 7th and 14th of July). The organization for animal welfare The League Against Cruel Sports initiated a petition to ask STA Travel to stop offering trips to the running of the bulls.

CAS attends première EncierroOn Tuesday July 3, CAS international attended the première of the documentary ‘Encierro’, a documentary by Olivier van de Zee about the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. In the documentary participants of the running of the bulls talk about their experiences and their reasons to join the run. According to Marius Kolff, director of CAS, ‘Encierro’ is a nice documentary wherein human attendees have all the opportunity to speak, yet the suffering of the bulls is not discussed.

Successes in MallorcaWith the campaign ‘Mallorca Sense Sang’ (for a bloodless Mallorca), an initiative of AnimaNaturalis and CAS, we have scored our first successes! The main objective of ‘Mallorca Sense Sang’ is to abolish bullfighting from the Spanish Island Mallorca. The greatest success until now is the declaration of the municipality Artà as anti-bullfighting municipality.

European Parliament accepts charge of PACMA against Toro de la VegaIn September 2013, PACMA (the Spanish Party for the Animals) presented a petition to the European Union with the request to investigate whether the tradition Toro de la Vega is violating European legislation. The European Union has admitted this request. PACMA also requests the EU to put an end to Toro de la Vega.
