On Wednesday, November 6, the Spanish Senate declared bullfighting to be Cultural Heritage. This decision does not affect the prohibition of bullfighting in Catalonia.

On Wednesday, September 25th, a debate took place in the Spanish Congress on banning events involving the maltreatment and/or killing of bulls. The reason for this debate was an initiative of Izquierda Plural to abolish the cruel Toro de la Vega.

On Saturday September 14, CAS International protested against the cruel Toro de la Vega 'feast' in Madrid, Spain. Every year in September in Tordesillas, a bull is killed by hundreds of horse- and footmen armed with lances. This year, bull Vulcano was the victim of this tradition.

Together with WSPA, CAS collected thousands of signatures against the declaration of bullfighting as Cultural Heritage in Spain. The petition was handed over to a representative of the ambassador during a cultural event in front of the Spanish Embassy in The Hague.
