In September 2013, PACMA (the Spanish Party for the Animals) presented a petition to the European Union with the request to investigate whether the tradition Toro de la Vega is violating European legislation. The European Union has admitted this request. PACMA also requests the EU to put an end to Toro de la Vega.

The committee for the Rights of the Child of the United Nations has stated that bullfighting is in contravention of the Convention of the Rights of the Child. The United Nations will now start to judge whether the bullfighting countries respect the Rights of the Child.
