First voting on subsidies to bullfighting in European CommitteeThe Committee of Environment, Public Health and Food Safety has voted to put an end to the European subsidies to bullfighting. The Dutch member of the European Parliament Bas Eickhout, member of the green party GroenLinks, had proposed the amendment. Finally, it has been adopted with 29 votes in favor and 11 against it.

Will Bogota stay free of bullfighting? The Constitutional Court of Colombia has determined that it is permitted to retain bullfighting in the Colombian Capital of Bogota. In 2012, Gustavo Petro, the mayor of Bogota, decided to stop allowing the organization of bullfights in the bullring La Santamaria and to create space for cultural and educational events free of animal suffering.

On Saturday September 13, CAS International will protest against the cruel Toro de la Vega 'feast' in Madrid, Spain.

Every year in September, in the Spanish town of Tordesillas, a bull is killed by hundreds of horse- and footmen armed with lances. This year, bull Elegido (in Spanish it means the chosen one) will be the victim of this cruel tradition.

The motion that requested the declaration was accepted with 7 votes in favour, and 5 abstentions. This success has been achieved thanks to the lobbying of members of the campaign ‘Mallorca Sin Sangre’ (Mallorca without blood).
