Recently three municipalities in the Mexican state of Veracruz have declared themselves as anti-bullfighting municipalities. At this moment the list of worldwide municipalities against bullfighting has reached the number 108.

In 2012 Teocelo (also located in Veracruz) declared itself as the first anti-bullfighting municipality of Mexico. In March of this year Xalapa, Fortín de las Flores and Boca del Rio prohibited all types of events with bulls. Circuses with animals and cockfights have been prohibited as well. At this moment an interesting debate is going on in this region in which the problems related to the suffering of animals are being seen as a social problem that needs to be solved.

In this part of the state of Veracruz citizens are working together with the authorities to prohibit bullfighting and cruel feasts with bulls. This situation leads to a chain reaction: more municipalities are considering to follow the same steps as Teocelo, Xalapa, Fortín de las Flores and Boca del Rio did.

CAS International is very pleased with these developments in Mexico and congragulates the citizens and authorities in Xalapa, Fortín de las Flores and Boca del Rio with this achievement. The anti-bullfighting movement is achieving many successes, more and more municipalities in the bullfighting countries decide to prohibit bullfighting and cruel feasts with bulls.
