Recently, CAS International traveled to the French capital Paris for two important meetings: a lobby meeting with two Members of Parliament and the first international conference in Europe of veterinaries against bullfighting.

Members of Parliament

On the first day there were meetings with the French Members of Parliament Laurence Abeille of the green party Verts and Geneviève Gaillard of the Parti socialiste. They fight for the end of bullfighting in France. CAS International was present at the meetings with organizations from France, Spain and Portugal. During the meetings the International Network for the Abolition of Bullfighting was presented to the MP’s. One of the reasons to have this meeting was to discuss how the Network can support the MP’s in their work to end bullfighting in France.

 Veterinaries against bullfighting

On the second day, there was a meeting between the Spanish organization of veterinaries against bullfighting AVATMA (CAS is one of the founding members) and the French collective of veterinaries COVAC. Then, the first European international conference of veterinaries against bullfighting took place. CAS attended the conference. In a manifesto, AVATMA and COVAC call other veterinaries not to work together with the bullfighting sector since it is incoherent to offer a veterinary's service to practices that are opposed to animal welfare.
