Registration proposal Day of the registration of the proposal to end bullfighting in the Balearic Islands © Mallorca Sense Sang

The end of bullfighting in the autonomous Spanish Balearic Islands is getting closer! As part of our campaign ‘Mallorca Sense Sang’ (Mallorca without Blood) a proposal to end bullfighting has been registered at the parliament of the Balearic Islands. There is a high chance that the proposal will be accepted, because now we have the support of the majority of the political parties at the parliament. With a prohibition the Balearic Islands would become the third autonomous state in Spain with a ban on bullfighting.

‘Mallorca Sense Sang’ is a campaign of CAS International and AnimaNaturalis. 21 municipalities have declared themselves against bullfighting in the Spanish Island until now. We already achieved that Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the autonomous Spanish Balearic Islands, declared itself against bullfighting! The total number of anti-bullfighting municipalities in Mallorca is now 25! Since the end of September four new municipalities declared themselves against bullfighting: Alaró, Búger, Llucmajor and Maria de la Salut.

The list of anti-bullfighting municipalities now numbers 137 worldwide. There are now 113 municipalities in Spain that declared themselves against bullfighting. We have reached now 137,000 signatures. You can be part of the end of bullfighting in the Balearic Islands by helping us so we can collect more signatures: please help us by signing and sharing the petition!
